Material breakdown, process notes, and care instructions for every product in Drop 01. We keep this specific so you know exactly what you're buying.
Mulmul is a fine, loosely woven cotton fabric. The word comes from Hindi and describes the open, airy weave — you'll notice it immediately when you hold it up to light. That openness is what makes it breathe so well in warm weather.
It's not a thick fabric. It's not meant to be heavy or structured. Its job is to sit on your body without trapping heat, which is why it works for a shirt you wear all day rather than one that comes off the moment you get inside.
Care
The Girls' Dress is made from Jaipur cotton — a smooth, soft cotton fabric that is comfortable against skin and holds color well. The pattern on this dress is applied by hand using carved wooden blocks.
Hand block printing means the print is applied manually, one block at a time. The result is an original pattern where slight variations in placement and ink saturation are inherent to the process — not defects. No two dresses are identical.
Care
A carved wooden block is pressed into pigment or dye, then pressed by hand onto the fabric in a repeating pattern. The printer aligns each stamp by eye — no machine registration. That's what creates the slight variation in each print.
The blocks used for VER STUDIO's Girls' Dress are carved specifically for this print. Each block represents the original design work we brought to the partnership.
Kanchi cotton refers to cotton produced in the Kanchipuram region of South India. It's woven for weight and substance — it has more body than a fine muslin but remains breathable and comfortable in warm weather. It's the right fabric for a daywear set that needs to hold its shape through real activity.
Care
The Kids Sleep Set comes in two fabrics, depending on the colorway. Little Catch is 100% cotton. Night Safari is 100% rayon (viscose) — a semi-synthetic fiber made from wood pulp. We want to be direct about the rayon: it is not fully natural. It is made by processing wood pulp through a chemical process to produce a soft, smooth fiber.
We use it in Night Safari colorway because it performs exceptionally well for sleepwear. It is lightweight, drapes softly against skin, and stays cool. For a garment that needs to keep a sleeping child comfortable throughout the night, it is the right material choice.
A raw seam inside a garment means exposed fabric edges and sometimes rough stitching that sits directly against skin. In kids' clothing, this is where rashes and complaints come from. In men's shirts, it's what makes a garment feel cheap even when the outer fabric is good.
Every piece in Drop 01 uses enclosed seam construction — the raw seam allowance is folded inside and secured, so nothing rough touches skin. This is a manufacturing decision that costs more per unit. We made it on every product.
